New Student Arrival Day

Do you remember when the “Cornerstone University” sign came into view as you arrived on your first day with your car packed to the brim? For some, you could not wait until the car stopped so you could sprint to meet your new roommate; for others your hands were clammy, your eyes full of tears and your heart racing so quickly you were confident you could make the track team. The words Babcock, Cook, Crawford, Keithley, Miller, Pickitt, Quincer and VanOsdel are sure to conjure up thousands of memories for those of you that lived on campus during your undergrad years at CU. While not every one of these buildings has remained a residence hall, new students continue to move in each year, just like you did five, 10, 20, or 40 plus years ago!  And so, we are inviting alumni to help move freshmen and transfer students into their dorms.

This fall we anticipate more than 400 new students and 1,200 family members on New Student Arrival Day and you’re invited to the party! We are looking for alumni to volunteer during New Student Arrival 2010, who possess at least one of these characteristics: physically strong, hospitable, and/or empathetic.  As you know, these qualities are needed on the day one moves into college.  We thought, what better group to help students transition than those who have “been there, done that.”  No matter your age, no matter your skills, if you feel pulled to help either move boxes, dry tears, bounce with the ecstatic or hug a mom (or dad!), then please join us.

What a perfect way to reunite with old dorm pals!
