Teaching Philosophy
For me, the joy of teaching religion comes by observing my students expanding their hearts and minds, and then seeing them move to a transformation of their will. Or, to say it another way: I love teaching as a way to foster wisdom in students. The Hebrew Bible and New Testament regularly refer to or allude to wisdom. Wisdom represents a fulsome idea that stands at the intersections of learning and observation, psychological development, living in community, and spiritual formation. Education, particularly religious education, flourishes in these contexts. I strive to integrate learning and life and liturgy. Teaching and learning are part of our spiritual journey.
