Courses

What can students expect from your classes? From your division?

In my classes, I strive to model the teaching style of Jesus. We are a community of disciples who are seeking to follow Jesus and led by the Holy Spirit as we are challenged to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Of all the classes that you may teach, which one are you most passionate about?

I enjoy teaching spiritual formation because it has radically changed my own heart and life. In spiritual formation, we learn how to live our lives as Jesus would if He were living our lives. This is the essence of the Christ life — learning to do everything that Jesus taught us. It is my great joy to walk with students in this course, seeking together to grow into the likeness of Christ.

Advice for College Students

I encourage students to count the cost of following Jesus in vocational ministry and then be prepared to be challenged, stretched, rewarded and fulfilled in the awesome task of discipling the nations for Christ.

Family Information

Where were you born or raised?

I spent my early years in northern California and my adolescent years in the greater Los Angeles area.

Family information:

I am married to my wonderful wife and deepest friend, Bonnie. We have four children, who are all adults now and married. They live, with their families, in Charlotte, N.C., Pasadena, Calif., Lisbon, Portugal, and Rockford, Mich.

Interests and Passions Outside of Teaching

My wife and I enjoy digital photography and have recently used our photos to create a gallery in our home. Occasionally, I have been on Facebook and recently experimented with Twitter.

Favorite Inspirational Quote or Bible Verse

Take, Lord, and receive
all my liberty,
my memory,
my understanding,
and all my will —
all that I am and have.

You, Lord, have given everything to me. I now return it to you, O Lord.
All of it is yours.
Use it according to your will.

Just give me love of yourself along with your grace;
that is enough for me.
Ignatius of Loyola

Favorite Thing About Cornerstone University

The students, staff and faculty are what make Cornerstone a great place to grow, learn and develop in a relationship with Jesus Christ. I work at Cornerstone to worship God and lead others in the worship of that same God. It is a wonderful place to do just that!
