My social work background includes working in residential treatment with youth and families, therapeutic adventure-based counseling and working with adolescent sex offenders in residential treatment. Academic research focused on teaching ethics in social work education.
Publications
Presented at numerous conferences on the subject of ethics in social work and recently had an article approved for publication in The Journal of Social Work Education. It will be in the winter 2010 edition. The title of the article is, “Ethics Education in Social Work: Comparing Outcomes of Graduate Social Work Students.”
Awards or Honors
I have been asked to serve on the editorial board for the North American Christians in Social Work’s journal, Social Work and Christianity.

What can students expect from your classes? From your division?
I hope a combination of good lecture and discussion and work in small groups.
Of all the classes that you may teach, which one are you most passionate about?
I probably have the most fun teaching Social Work 111: Introduction to Social Work, Social Work 332: Social Work Practice with Groups and a marriage and family class.

Born in Pontiac, Mich., and raised in Dryden, Mich.

Married for 20 years to Nora. We have two daughters, Katie, 16, and Megan, 8.
Interests and Passions Outside of Teaching
Trying to stay in shape with as little work as possible (I know, I’m living in a fantasy world), motorcycling, dreaming about being in warmer weather and playing with my family and friends.
