After a long week of cramming my head with overloads of information, I enjoy curling up on my bed and watching a movie. Most of my friends have called me crazy at one point in time, which is probably a correct assessment. I enjoy being a little goofy from time to time and taking advantage of every breath given to me. I hail from New Mexico and am sure I would love long walks on the beach if I got to experience one every once in a while.
Spontaneous Drumming
Apr 13, 2010
Act:s is a group on campus that was created by a group of students who were passionate about justice around the world. It was almost a year ago that a small group started talking about meeting. It would be an opportunity for others who shared a passion for justice could come and be involved in a group that would allow them to express this passion and get other involved.
Well, it’s been almost a year now and they have really made a name for themselves on campus. Just this past week, they had Taste of the World. It was an opportunity for people to come and learn and experience another culture for a couple of hours.
I had class, but I made it to the very end of this event. I have a treat for you! They had these large drums out and people broke out into spontaneous….well, drumming! Here it is!
March Madness
Apr 7, 2010
March Madness has come to a close this year and the adrenaline that has been pumping through devoted fans’ veins is beginning to wear off. Some were excited with the championship game while others were frustrated with the outcome.
In the library, those who were keeping tabs on their favorite teams could see how they were doing on the life size bracket hanging in the entrance. Students would come in to see if their team had made it to the next stage of the basketball battle. As each game was played, one team would advance at a time making their way toward the championship game.

Now the bracket has been completely filled with the winners of this years’ March Madness tournament. I did not watch the games, but Duke claimed the victory with a close game over Butler. Facebook statuses and newspaper headlines were quick to voice their joys and grievances of the outcome of that final championship game. I heard from friends that it was a very close game which kept all of the fans on their toes.
Until next time sports fans, keep rooting for your favorite teams and maybe your team will be up on the library wall next year at NCAA March Madness 2011.

Four Churches. Four Concerts. Three Days.
Apr 1, 2010
This past weekend, the Cornerstone University Chorale had their choir tour for the year in Chicago and the surrounding areas. It was four days of intense singing and travelling, but it paid off.
As I was packing for the trip on Thursday evening, I was a little unnerved about how this tour would turn out. I had loads of homework to catch up on and could have used a long relaxing weekend. But instead I grabbed my choir folder, uniform, and bags to hit the road.
Our first concert on Friday evening was a rush of adrenaline. We were up there singing out hearts out to an eager crowd. It was a blast! After the concert, we were whisked away by our host families. This meant one thing: home cooked meals! It was refreshing to be surrounded by such hospitable families who shared our same passion for the Lord.
Saturday was a mix of many events. We began by making a short stop at Millennium Park in Downtown Chicago before making our way to Ed Debevik’s. Now if you don’t know what Ed Devevik’s, don’t worry, neither did I. This is a very unique place in which the waiters are rude and impatient – and they were allowed to be! They are actors that throw napkins and paper cups at you and enlist the customer to help them in their duties. It was definitely an interesting experience. I’m not sure I would show up there again.
The last three performances were amazing as our choir truly bonded. We improved significantly and really enjoyed our time. So….calling all singers? Interested in choir? Audition for Chorale. It’s definitely a blast!

Spa Day
Feb 28, 2010
We had to organize a service project for our Intrapersonal Relationships in Ministry class. We had one week and five people to try and figure out schedules for a time to meet. We had no clue what we wanted to do and we had no idea if it would work. But we started brainstorming.
There were no specific rules or agendas you had to follow. No time limits had been set. The only goal was to serve someone. So we began to think of ways that we could do that. The one thing we all agreed on in my small group is that we wanted to do something on campus. We wanted to be able to reach people who we saw everyday.
After about twenty minutes we decided to have a mini-spa day for the girls on campus. It was going to be last minute so we weren’t sure who would show up, but we made cookies and brought finger nail polish and got to work.
It was a blast!! There were girls painting their finger nails and coming in and out of the lounge in cook. We got to talk to a lot of girls and feed them cookies and cake. It was a great opportunity to offer something to others. It was a needed distressing time for not only me, but those who attended as well. I was a little scared of how it was going to turn out, but it ended up being a lot of fun.
Maybe I’ll do it again. Stay posted!!

These were the invites I made for the mini-spa day!
Coffee Shop
Feb 27, 2010
Down the road a piece
There lies a coffee shop
The name is Vanilla’s
Open mic nights
Weekends….
Coffee shop musicians
So easy going and chill
Some songs they write
Some songs the remix
They bring joy to the soul
Ambience to a room
And laughter to a heart
It’s a beautiful community
Friends and families
Customers and strangers
It’s poetry in motion
Notes and lyrics
Instruments and chord charts
This is where I feel at home
I don’t drink coffee
I don’t drink tea
But I sit next to my buds
With a glass of water
And a smile full of awe
My friends are beautiful
Their music is too
Such an invitation
I’ll join in
How bout you?

Water Fight
Feb 20, 2010
It all started with a splash of water.
What began as three of us flinging droplets of water at each other turned into a full fledged battle.
Water Fight.
It started with Katie, Dan, and I and ended with at least eight to ten people running through the halls of VO Friday night. We were dodging water as if we were dodging bullets trying to save our lives. Never in my life have I felt so much like James Bond.
Of course the girls won. This is still in debate between the girls and the guys. But take it from me, we won. Hardcore. At the end of the night, we were all soaked, mopping the floors, laughing and eating cookies.
The past couple of weeks have been crazy in the dorms. We had the chicken incident, dancing with the sections, and now this. If you are considering living in the dorms and are still not sure, take it from me; living in the dorms is a fantastic experience.
Unfortunately, I was unable to record this event or get pictures because, well, we were covered in water the whole time. But, I grabbed a photo of Katie and I after a different water fight from last year. In retrospect, the picture tells the same story as Friday night.

DWTS 2010
Feb 19, 2010
Corum packed. Adrenaline pumping. Crowds cheering. Sections preparing.
DWTS 2010
The turn out this year was phenomenal. Last night, each section from Cook and VO went head to head in a full on competition to see which section would claim the bragging rights for Dancing With the Sections. It was a long battle, and by the end of the evening every window was steaming because of how hard each section worked to be the best. But only two came out victorious.
Hilary's third floor and Ben's second floor sections claimed the victory for the girls and guys. They will be representing CookVO as the champs of DWTS for this year.
All in all, I am pretty sure that everyone had a blast. Some of the best times were getting ready to perform.

But until next year folks, go on a take a bow for Hilary and Ben's sections. They did great!
