Business Administration

As a business administration major, you will study business through the management scope to develop skills that meet the needs of all types of organizations. This major will prepare you for management roles at all levels.

The Business division has a proven history of preparing student for successful careers in a variety of business roles, as well as enabling entrepreneurs to pursue new business ventures. Our curriculum prepares students for careers in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. We equip students through our:

• Experienced Leadership: Our faculty have strong academic and professional credentials. This quality, along with our commitment to our students and faith, creates an optimal learning environment for student success. Our faculty have managed computer retail stores, run computer helpdesk operations, promoted music concerts, provided income tax services, owned a financial management firm, installed and supported large vertical market academic software for colleges and universities, managed nonprofit organizations and marketed products and services in the international arena.

• Required Real-World Experience: As part of their Cornerstone career, students in the business field are given the opportunity to participate in an internship related to their areas of major. Students can work with Career Services, our faculty internship advisor or search on their own to find internships that will not only give them invaluable work experience but also equip them with skills needed after graduation. Our students have been awarded internships in a wide variety of settings, including large, nationally known corporations as well as local nonprofit organizations.

• International Opportunities: On a yearly basis, students are able to take part in classes and internships in a global setting. For example, the BUS 215 International Business Experience class allows students to gain a hands-on international business experience through meeting with industry executives and touring foreign firms. The trip also gives students the opportunity to experience new cultures and tour sites of interest. Recent destinations include China and the United Arab Emirates.

What internships or partnerships are available with this program?

An internship of six credit hours is required, which will give you the opportunity to put your education into practice.

Internships are available at: Merrill Lynch, Zondervan, St. Mary’s Health Care, Starbucks, Whitecaps Professional Baseball Corp., Bank of Holland, Palace Sports/Detroit Pistons, WOOD-TV 8, Amway and Meijer Corporation.
