The primary purpose of the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching at Cornerstone University is to promote and encourage excellence in learning, teaching, research, publication, and other scholarly pursuits through a variety of academic activities.
CELT promotes teaching scholarship as it:
- Offers a variety of faculty opportunities for development in teaching to enable student learning.
- Encourages a focus on who our students are, how they learn, and how different teaching approaches can have an impact on their learning.
- Provides opportunities for faculty to come together across disciplines to share their teaching experiences and expertise.
- Incorporates CU initiatives into curriculum, classrooms and culture.
- Affords opportunities for renewal and growth in teaching to senior faculty.
- Provides orientation, mentoring, and instructional support to new and pre-tenure faculty.
- Supports a campus culture of excellence, recognition, and reward for teaching.
- Offers resource for designing and planning future learning spaces.
- Encourages a culture of scholarship of integration, application and teaching.
