Description:

The chemistry minor provides students the fundamental knowledge, experience and analytical ability to function effectively in a chemistry laboratory setting.  This capability also allows the student to serve in most laboratory environments even outside the realm of chemistry.

What types of students succeed in this program?

Students in the biology majors will often find the minor in chemistry to be important to their understanding of concepts for the major.  Due to the challenging nature of the courses involved a student seeking the chemistry minor should have above average intelligence, well developed study skills, good analytical skills, and an aptitude for mathematics.

A student who graduates with a chemistry minor would most often work in a laboratory environment doing basic or applied research, quality assurance, or environmental testing.
