Description:

Students who major in Exercise Science complete a rich curriculum in the studies of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, and exercise.  The student will gain a greater appreciation of how God designed the human body for movement.

What types of students succeed in this program?

Students who excel in this field love physical movement and its application to the sciences.  They are bright individuals who work well with others and have a heart to serve others.

What can I do with this major or minor?

Students wishing to enter the job market with a B.S. degree in Exercise Science are prepared for entry level positions with corporate and community fitness programs, health clubs, YMCAs and similar fitness related organizations.   Related positions that could be obtained with the B.S. degree include positions in sales or marketing of medical, fitness, and sport related equipment.

Many students go on to acquire a graduate degree in this field.   A B.S. in Exercise Science would prepare a student to enter a graduate field in adapted physical education, clinical exercise physiology, preventative rehabilitative exercise biomechanics, motor control and development, medicine, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.

What are some of internships or partnerships with this program?

Completion of a six hour internship is required of all Exercise Science majors.  Possible internships include fitness programs, health clubs, hospitals, physical therapy, and athletic training facilities.

What is the future outlook with a degree in this area?

With personal health and fitness occupying much of our nation’s attention, a major in Exercise Science is an excellent way to tap into a plentiful job market whose goal is the promotion of a healthier nation through exercise and fitness programs.
