Career Path

I taught at Bethany Bible College in New Brunswick, Canada for a year after receiving my Ph.D. Then I taught at Michigan State in the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures for four years before coming to Cornerstone. While at MSU I also worked at MATRIX: Humanities and Social Sciences Online where I helped to develop a number of audio archives and interactive educational websites. For a couple of summers I also was a part of an NEA-funded program to help Battle Creek public school teachers to become more effective teachers of history.
 

Courses Taught:

Freshman Rhetoric, Introduction to Literature, World Literature, Creative Writing, Expository Writing, Modern American Literature, Recent Cultural Theory, Modernism in Literature and the Arts, Postmodern Literature. For Cornerstone's Professional & Graduate Studies program I have taught American Studies, Introduction to the Fine Arts, and Introduction to Writing and Research.
 

Personal Information:

Married to Beth; two children (Caleb and Emma); Shadow, golden retriever; Noah, cat.
 

Other Interests & Pursuits:

Painting, browsing used-book stores, travel (when funds allow).
 

Comments:

Find a perfect place to read and study, and guard it tooth and nail. Also, don’t let anyone tell you that you can study “later”.
