Bachelor of Science, University of Alabama; Master of Music, Wichita State University; Doctor of Musical Arts, University of Alabama
I was a freelance percussionist and private studio teacher in Kansas City before pursuing my doctorate. In addition to my doctoral studies, I was an adjunct instructor and continued performing. I completed my doctorate and began teaching as a full-time professor at Quincy University (Ill.) in 1994. I came to Cornerstone University in 2006, serving as Division Chair, as well as teaching, advising, and performing.
I was an adjunct percussion instructor at Mid-America Nazarene College (Kan.) and the University of Montevallo (Ala.), in addition to graduate teaching assistantships at Wichita State University and the University of Alabama. I was also a percussion instructor at Interlochen Arts Camp, Interlochen, MI, from 1993 through 2004.
I have significant performance experience as a percussionist, including work with the Alabama Symphony, Kansas City Percussion Quartet, and American Heartland Theatre.
As a full-time music professor at Quincy University for twelve years, I was actively involved in teaching, advising, recruiting, performance, faculty governance, and service to the community.

I have two Cornish Rex cats. Blue Scattin’ Ella is named after Ella Fitzgerald, and Flyin’ Right Cole is named after Nat “King” Cole (because they’re “cool cats”!).
I enjoy playing drumset for Sunday services at Calvary Church. I also enjoy playing tennis and following Alabama football. Roll Tide!
I invite you to attend our Cornerstone University student-musician performances, and introduce yourself to our students and faculty. It is our desire that you become a participant in our division as a community of believers that strives for musical, academic and spiritual excellence.
