Instrumental Audition

In preparation for your instrumental audition, prepare for the following:

  • Major, minor, and chromatic scales with demonstration within your full range.
  • At least one solo selection containing both lyrical and technique components.  It should be the sort of repertoire that you would be expected to perform at a state solo and ensemble competition.
  • Sight-reading.
  • Please Note: Accompaniments are not required. If you choose to have an accompanist, you may bring your own or one will be provided if indicated in the application.

No pre-recorded accompaniments will be accepted for any solo vocal or instrumental audition.

RECORDED AUDITIONS
Students for whom performing an on-campus audition is prohibitive (for example international students), may request to submit their auditions on a high quality VHS tape or DVD (No audio cassette or compact disk permitted). Please send your requests to: music@cornerstone.edu

AUDITION ACCOMPANISTS
Applicants requiring an accompanist are strongly encouraged to bring their own; however, a staff accompanist will be available upon request. Applicants requesting a staff accompanist must include photocopies of their audition selections and a staff accompanist fee of $10.00 (personal checks only) with the audition application form. Applicants will have an opportunity to meet with the staff accompanist prior to the audition.
