Contemporary Ensemble

Michael Stockdale and Matthew Westerholm, Directors

Contemporary Ensembles provide contemporary Christian music and worship arts students with opportunities to rehearse, perform, and create music in the context of a five or six piece rock band. Ensembles typically consist of bass, drums, guitars, keyboards, and singers, although specific makeup is flexible and depends on the students enrolled in the course. Contemporary Ensembles perform at least once per semester, and often serve as back-up bands for junior and senior contemporary Christian music recitals. These ensembles are coached by faculty members experienced in working with contemporary music styles, and allow opportunities for students to showcase their own original arranging and songwriting skills.
