BASIC SKILL INFORMATION:
The Basic Skills Test covers the testing areas of Reading, Math and Writing.
The Basic Skills Test should be taken by those desiring admission into the Teacher Education Program. Once the Basic Skills Test has been passed in all areas (Reading, Math, Writing), you DO NOT need to take this test again.
SUBJECT AREA TESTS:
Subject Area Tests cover the subject area of the students major(s) and/or minor(s).
The Subject Area Tests may be taken once the student is 90% complete with all coursework. Typically, this percentage occurs the semester prior to student teaching. Check with the Teacher Education office if you have questions concerning eligibility.
Elementary Education student MUST take the General Elementary subject area test. The subject area tests are highly recommended for Elementary Education students to take, for marketability purposes.
Secondary Education students MUST take the subject area test in their major and minor.
