Why CU?
I wanted to attend a Christian college not far from home.
Your Story
As a student at
Cornerstone, I was involved in the World Outreach Committee. We organized
projects to support global and local missions. Monthly, we served food to
homeless and low-income individuals at Dégagé Ministries in downtown Grand
Rapids. The experience was both challenging and rewarding for me. When it
became time to look for an internship, I called Dégagé to ask if they would
consider me. I started my internship in May 2002. I haven’t left Dégagé since
and am now beginning my tenth year there. I credit my participation in the
World Outreach Committee at Cornerstone for opening the doors to this great
opportunity. I have learned many things about God’s character at Dégagé. I have
also met many wonderful people—those we serve as well as some amazing community
members. God is clearly at work in the ministry and in shaping my heart.
Cornerstone provided me with a foundation to develop my Biblical worldview and
strengthen my leadership skills. This has been invaluable not only in my
career, but in many other areas of life as well.
