Why CU/GRTS?
A great location close to downtown G.R. as well as an environment where I would be encouraged to grow in my walk and community with others.

Years Attended:
2007-2010

How Was Your Life Transformed:
I was able to connect with students and professors that encouraged me to strive for my best and encouraged me through challenging times.

Influential Contributions:
The Business Division members were better that what I could have ever asked for.  Professor Morter and I were able to connect on many levels.  I know his time and instruction will benefit for many years to come.

How Have Your Experiences at CU Prepared You:
I have learned to appreciate fellowship and have built solid relationships with my peers.  Also, appreciating others and helping those around me to grow to be more effective in communication and service.

What You Want Others to Know:
I have the opportunity to serve others and minister to them in many ways that I never thought I could.

What You Would Share:
Cornerstone will provide more than an education but a foundation for a worthy lifestyle.

Your Story:

My title is a Wrangler. I work with 5 other recent college graduates in the Corral. The job entails primarily guiding guests on horseback through the Rocky Mountains of Colorado as we are located in the middle of Pike National Forest. Other tasks involve training young horses so that guests may ride them one day, tending to horse injuries, pushing cattle and clearing trails. Soon we will have 150 cattle brought in to graze the property and surrounding Pike National forest. The ranch is located near Deckers which is literally comprised of a one roofed building that adjoins the South Platte River. What is amazing about the ranch is in 2003 the Hayman fire tore through here but barely touched the ranch’s property.

The ranch takes a ministry approach to service of guests that cross our cattle guard. I have had many great conversations with guests who simply cannot understand why our service is so outstanding, and I get to tell them the truth! The reason is that every worker here believes that their purpose while at the ranch is to show the love of Christ to others on an unparalleled level. I have been blessed in that I work with kids my age who want to grow deeper in the Word and strive to put others before themselves. Lost Valley does not advertise to be a “Christian” ranch. This way we are able to continually challenge ourselves in service to unbelieving guests.

So far my time here has been a learning experience to say the least! From graduating with a finance degree to training horses is quite the shift. I still plan to open up a Financial Advisory firm upon returning to Michigan, but I do not know when that will be, its in God’s hands.
