Why CU/GRTS?
It was GRBS in 1965 when I came,
drawn by the fact it was in my home state of Michigan, it had a conservative
theology, and was part of the GARBC.
Years Attended:
I attended GRTS from 1965-1969.
How Was Your Life Transformed?
My life was transformed by Jesus
Christ about seven years before I came to Grand Rapids. Seminary was a learning
experience to equip me to better serve Jesus Christ.
Influential Contributions:
Dr. Crawford and Dr. Matthews
were two who contributed significantly to my greater understanding of Biblical
truth. Their commitment to Biblical truth challenged me to strive for the same
in my own ministries.
How Have Experiences at GRTS Prepared You?
Seminary prepared me by giving
me tools which God could, and has, used in my ministry. Most important is the
tool of Bible exegesis.
What You Want Others to Know:
I am retired, but certainly not
inactive. I operate a website I call "The Master's Place." On it I
share articles I and others have written, devotional material, photographs, and
a bookstore where self-published Christian books by others and by me are
offered for sale at modest prices.
What Would You Share?
A student needs a strong
commitment to serve Christ before he or she enters any advanced educational
institution. Education, even Christian education, exposes a person to a wide
variety of ideas and ideals, some of which the individual will incorporate into
his or her own life, and some which will be rejected. It is important for a
student to have settled life issues before embarking on an advanced Christian
education.
Fast Facts:
Favorite Place:
My favorite place was the old
library, where I spent a lot of time with the girl who has been my wife for the
past 40+ years.
Involvement:
I went out on preaching
assignments. I sang bass in the seminary choir under the direction of Osmond Bell.
And I fell in love with, proposed to, and married my wife while there.
Last Visit:
My last visit was in 1995.
Souvenirs:
I kept many souvenirs, but most
of them have to do with my wife. I kept date books in which I made notations
about our growing relationship, along with assignments and their due dates.
Favorite Professor:
My favorite professor was Dr.
Crawford.
Favorite Memory:
My favorite memory was walking
into the old library one afternoon to study and seeing a young lady walk in. I
think you know who that was.
