The 2006 Men's Cross Country team proved throughout the year that they are an up and coming program not just in the region, but also in the nation. One of the runners that helped them achieve such great heights this year, Luke Owens,was also honored as a 2006 Daktronics Academic All-American. The announcement came just before the national meet in which Cornerstone placed 11th overall.

The Cornerstone University Men’s Cross Country team entered the Greater Louisville Classic ranked twelfth in the NAIA with the opportunity to race head to head against other top NAIA and NCAA teams.
Taking full advantage of the good competition, Derek Scott cruised through the first three miles in 14:50 in twenty-second place.
