Luke Owens Named Academic All-American

The 2006 Men's Cross Country team proved throughout the year that they are an up and coming program not just in the region, but also in the nation. One of the runners that helped them achieve such great heights this year, Luke Owens,was also honored as a 2006 Daktronics Academic All-American. The Cornerstone University Men’s Cross Country team entered the Greater Louisville Classic ranked twelfth in the NAIA with the opportunity to race head to head against other top NAIA and NCAA teams. Taking full advantage of the good competition, Derek Scott cruised through the first three miles in 14:50 in twenty-second place. The Cornerstone University Men’s Cross Country team began the season with a dominating victory at the Hope College Vanderbilt Invitational. The race got startedunder sunny skies on the three-loop course behind Ridge Point Church. Olympic 1500 meter runner, Paul McMullen led through the first mile in an easy 5:06.
