The men's cross country team earned an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships which will be held on Nov. 21 in Vancouver, Washington. The team received the automatic qualifier by winning the WHAC championship November 7th. By a two point margin, the Golden Eagles held off Aquinas College 42 to 44 points. (Grand Rapids, Mich.) After running their worst race of the season two weeks ago, the Cornerstone Men’s Cross Country team dropped from thirteenth to thirty-second in the national rankings. In the process they went from an almost certain at-large bid to the NAIA National meet to only a slim chance. To make the National meet, Cornerstone needed to win the WHAC or finish very close to the winning team. Since 2001 that team has been Aquinas, who entered the meet ranked third in the latest NAIA poll.

(Kansas City, MO) After an excellent seventh place finish at the Calvin Knight Invitational last Saturday, the Cornerstone University Men’s Cross Country team moved up to eleventh in the NAIA coaches poll.
Following two weeks at the sixteenth spot, the Golden Eagles finished just one place behind the number two team in the NAIA, Aquinas.
Eleventh is the Golden Eagle’s highest rating since they were ranked third in November of 2007.
