Men's Cross Country

2007 Season Preview

After the most successful season in program history, the 2007 Men’s Cross Country team looks to pick up where they left off.

The Golden Eagles return four of the top five from the team that took eleventh at the NAIA National Championships last November.

Leading the group is fifth year senior, Derek Scott (Grand Rapids Northview). Seventh in the 2006 NAIA National meet, Scott went on to become the NAIA Outdoor T&F 1500 meter national champion.

Senior Luke Owens ( Rockford ), junior Wes Muller (Grand Rapids Northpointe Christian) and sophomore Zach Ripley (Grand Rapids Northview) form the core of the top five. Muller earned All-WHAC Cross Country last season and Ripley competed in the USATF Jr. Nationals in the steeplechase in June.

Redshirt freshman, Billy Carl (Dewitt) and sophomores Stephan Larson ( Rockford ) and Kelvin Shuneson (Forest Hills Eastern) look to complete the top seven.

Second at both the WHAC and NAIA Region championships last year, Cornerstone goes into the season looking for its first team title as well as a top ten finish in the NAIA.
