Men's Golf

Season Preview

"Keep Building"

The Men’s Golf team will look to keep building on the success that it had as a team from the past year as they enter the 2006-07 campaign with high hopes.  After finishing in a tie for second place in the WHAC just a year ago, the Golden Eagles will look to use a balance of experience along with 5 solid newcomers to take charge in a conference they once dominated.

Senior Andy Kaler will lead the way for CU along with returning Junior Bobby Roush and returning Sophomore Mitch Levengood.  They will be joined by five outstanding newcomers to the Eagles lineup that will be led by second year head coach Eric Campbell.  Chase Vandenberg (Middleville) comes in as a junior-college trasnfer this year as he comes in with junior eligibility.  The three freshman will make a push to be in the top 5 all year as they include Ryan Zwier (Kalamazoo), Ben Mounts (Springfield, OH), and Justin Nelson (Bath, MI).  Brendon Johnson, who briefly played with the Golden Eagles two years ago, has returned to CU and will join the team as well this fall.

The team kicks off its Fall Season once again at the Comet Classic hosted by Olivet College at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek on Sep 1 and 2.  They will then combine a few invitationals with their WHAC Jamboree schedule that begins at Aquinas (Palmer Park/LE Kaufman) and ends at Davenport (Thornapple Pointe Golf Club).
