The Golden Eagles improved to 3-2 in WHAC play with a big win on the road at Madonna today. Cornerstone scored goals in the 72nd, 83rd, and 89th minutes and Madonna scored in the 76th and 90th minute of the game. Matt Kunnen scored his first goal of the season on an assist from Matt Osorio at 71:18 to put Cornerstone up 1-0. Madonna tied it at 1-1 four minutes later. The Golden Eagles reclaimed the lead at 82:28 when Brian Nimmo headed home a Matt Osorio free kick. Brian Wierenga then put Cornerstone up 3-1 at 88:16 on an unassisted goal. Madonna did counter with a goal of their own at 89:55 to bring it to 3-2 but that would be how the game ended. Cornerstone improves to 4-5 overall and 3-2 in conference. The Golden Eagles outshot the Crusaders 20-12. Matt Roberts picked up the win in the nets. Cornerstone will return to action on Sept. 30th when they travel over to Marygrove to play at 4:00 p.m.
