Golden Eagles Fly High At Davenport

The Golden Eagles traveled across town to face Davenport in a big WHAC match today and came away with a 3-0 victory over the Panthers.  Cornerstone went up 1-0 in the 19th minute on an own goal.  Davenport responded with a goal in the 38th minute by Alex Boehm.  The game remained tied 1-1 at the half.  The Golden Eagles took a 2-1 lead at 61:42 when Nic Tolsma took a Jacob Stanko through ball and beat the Panther keeper in a 1 v 1.  Cornerstone struck again in the 68th minute when Isaac Grotenhuis headed in a Brice Snellink throw in.  The Golden Eagles had 12 shots in the match.  Dan Kerstan picked up the win in the goal.  Cornerstone moves into a tie for second place with Indiana Tech in the WHAC with 12 points on the year.  The Golden Eagles will return to action this Saturday when they face Siena Heights at 3:00 p.m.
