Golden Eagles Move Into Second Place

The men's soccer team won their second straight game with a 2-0 win at Siena Heights.  The and moved into second place a half game behind league leader Aquinas.  Goalkeeper Dan Kerstan recorded 8 saves to preserve the shutout.  Both teams were held scoreless in the first half.  Cornerstone got on the board at the 54:47 minute mark with an assist by Matt Osorio to Jordan Wilson.  Wilson shot from 18 feet just under the crossbar into the corner of the net to get the Golden Eagles on the board 1-0.  Shortly after at the 56:10 minute mark Osorio found Nic Tolsma for the gamewinner.  Tolsma scored the goal on a header off a cross from a free kick by Osorio. 

The Saints had 22 shots to CU's 14 with 13 of them coming in the second half but CU's defense prevailed and kept Siena off the board.  Cornerstone improves to 7-6 overall and 5-3 in the WHAC while Siena Heights drops to 5-5-3 overall and 3-4-1 in the WHAC.  The Concordia Cardinals come to town on Saturday October 17 at 2:30 p.m.
