Senior Layne Kreh was named 2004 WHAC Player of the Year. Kreh scored 7 goals and dished out 6 assists for the Golden Eagles this season. Kreh finishes his career with 30 goals and 20 assists over four seasons at Cornerstone. Layne was voted to the All-WHAC teams in each of his last three seasons and was voted team captain in 2003 and 2004.
Coach Mark Bell has been named WHAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year in 2004. Coach Bell guided the Golden Eagles to a 10-8-1 overall record. Cornerstone finished third in the WHAC with a 6-4 record and lost 3-2 in the WHAC Semi-Final to Siena Heights. The Golden Eagles placed well despite several injuries to key players throughout the season. Trevor Christie is the only player to start every game for the Golden Eagles this season. Cornerstone junior Nathan Grube scored three goals with two assists last week, making him WHAC men's soccer player of the week for October 4, 2004. The Hudsonville, Michigan native tallied an assist in his teams 2-0 WHAC victory over Indiana Tech then posted a hat-trick and assist in a 6-3 win at Trinity International.
Cornerstone University freshman Brad Verburg is the WHAC men's soccer player of the week after tallying two goals and one assist in two victories last week. The Byron Center, Michigan native scored his first goal of the week in a 3-0 win over Davenport University then followed it with a goal and assists in WHAC play versus Concordia, another 3-0 victory.
