SeniorMidfielder Tom Skilling (Rockford, MI) was named to two prestigious academic teams as the Men's Soccer Team wrapped up its season. He was named to the ESPN the Magazine All-Academic District 4 1st team andwas named aDaktronics NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete. Tom is majoring in Religion and Bible.
After a successful season for the Golden Eagles Men's Soccer team, two individuals were rewarded for their efforts by the NAIA. GoalKeeper Justin Breckan and Forward Nathan Grube were both selected to the All-American Honorable Mention Team. Grube, a senior from Hudsonville, MI led the WHAC in points scored and was also named to the WHAC 1st Team and Region VIII 1st Team. The men's soccer team continues totake in the awards after another successful season. Seniors Nate Grube and Justin Breckan were both named to the RegionVIII 1st Team.Forward Nate Grubeposted 15 goals and 6 assists andled the WHAC in total points with 36. Breckan, a GK for theGolden Eagles gave up only 1.25 gpg and posted71 saves on the year.
The men's soccer team placed six Student-Athletes on the 2005 Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams. CU was represented on the first team by Justin Breckan (Senior GK), Nathan Grube (Senior F), Tom Skilling (Senior- MF)and Patrick Wilson (Sophomore D). Sam Oberlin and Brad Verburg were also named to the Honorable Mention Team. Wilson took home WHAC Newcomer of the Year Honors as well. Trevor Christie was named to the Champions of Character Team and Skilling also earned Academic All-WHAC honors.

The Men's Soccer team heads into the WHAC Tourney on a 3game winning streak as they downed the Saints from Siena Heights today 2-1. The win improves the Golden Eagles record to 12-5-1 on the year and they finish at 7-4-1 in WHAC play. Sophomore defender Brad Verburg was named WHAC Player of the Week for his two goals that he scored in a 3-0 win over Indiana Techon Saturday. Verburg had just returned from a serious injury he sustained on October 11th against Madonna where he was taken off the field by ambulance. Those were Verburg's second and third goals of the season.
Sophomore Brad Verburg made an impact in his first game back coming off of an injury. Verburg scored the first two goals for the Golden Eagles as they went on to defeat Indiana Tech 3-0 today. The men's soccer team traveled to cross-town rival Aquinas College for their 2nd WHAC game of the season. Cornerstone scored first in the 11th minute. Sam Oberlin scored in off a free kick from Tom Skilling. Aquinas tied the game at 1-1 in the 19th minute off a free kick. Cornerstone outshot the Saints 20-8 for the game but it wasn't until the 89th minute that Patrick Wilson scored the winning goal for the Golden Eagles. Cornerstone improved to 3-1 on the year after a 5-1 victory over Kalamazoo College this afternoon. Sam Oberlin opened the scoring for the Golden Eagles in the 15th minute by netting a rebounded shot by sophomore Trevor Christie. Kalamazoo's Peter Jorth fired back about eight minutes later tying the score at 1-1.Oberlin put the Golden Eagles up 2-1 at the half by scoring his second goal withthe assist by James Branderhorst.

The Eagles got out of the gates quickly as they scored 2 goals in the first 6 minutes of the game.
