CornerstoneUniversity men’s soccer coach Mark Bell is proud to announce the signing of eight highly regarded student-athletes to letters of intent. Joining the Golden Eagle program beginning in the fall of 2009 will be goalkeeper Kyle Breckan (Tower lakes, Il),forward Taylor Grube (Hudsonville, MI), defender Trevor Hunt (Rockford, MI), defender Josh McKenna (Rochester Hills, MI), midfielder Brian Nimmo (Livonnia, MI), midfielder Brice Snellink (Belmont, MI), forward Jake Stanko (Holley, MI), and defender Jordan Wilson (Mississagua, ON).
“This is a great class says Bell. I think this will rank as one of our best recruiting classes. We are excited to have the opportunity to work with these talented student athletes as they accept the challenges that Cornerstone will present them academically, athletically and spiritually.”
Kyle Breckan (Tower Lakes, IL/Barrington HS/Chicago Sockers) Kyle is a good athlete and we expect him to compete immediately at the goalkeeper position. His experience at the club level is a tremendous asset and will greatly benefit him when he gets to Cornerstone. He is the brother of former Golden Eagle and two time All American-HM goalkeeper, Justin Breckan.
Taylor Grube (Hudsonville, MI/Hudsonville HS/Chicago Fire Jrs)
Taylor is picture with his parents (Dave & Debbie Grube)
Taylor is the brother of former Golden Eagle soccer standouts, Nathan (Fwd and All American-HM), Brent Grube (Gk and All Region) and the son of CU AD, Dave Grube. Taylor is a good technical player with the ability to play up front or in the midfield. He is versatile and can help us playing in any of the attacking positions. He is a good decision maker and doesn’t waste chances in front of the goal.
Trevor Hunt(Rockford, MI/Rockford HS/SCOR) is a hard working defender that puts heart and soul in to everything. He is a leader and a young man with great character. I love Trevor’s competitive nature and it was important to add quality defenders to our roster and Trevor is certainly one of these.
Josh McKenna (Rochester Hills, MI/Oakland Christian HS/Vardar)
Josh is pictured with his parents (David & Beth McKenna).
Josh won a State title with OaklandChristianHigh School this year. Josh has good speed and good technical ability to hold the ball under pressure. Josh is a versatile player, having played in a number of positions both in HS and Club ball. He can play at both ends of the field and we are going to have to figure out where to best use his gifts and abilities.
Brian Nimmo (Livonia, MI/Southfield Christian HS/Novi)
Brian is pictured with his parents (Jeff & Dawn Nimmo)
Brian is quick, smart and ambitious. He has the ability to finish as well as be a playmaker for us. I think we can expect that he will be a sparkplug for us this season. He is the son of Jeff Nimmo, former Golden Eagle soccer standout (‘87-‘90).
Brice Snellink (Belmont, MI/Northpoint Christian HS/SCOR). Brice has a great frame for a defensive midfielder and is a competitor. He is willing to work hard and leave it all out on the field. We look for Brice to fill some holes in our midfield defensively and be able to attack on set pieces.
Jake Stanko (Holly, MI/Oakland Christian HS/Vardar).
Jake is pictured with his parents (Stephen & Karen Stanko)
Jake is another product of Oakland Christian that brings an attacking flare, loves to go at players and can finish. He is one of the most accomplished high school players in this class. He’s also got tremendous experience at the club level and is one of the guys we are looking to contribute immediately.
Jordan Wilson (Mississagua, ON/Our Lady of Mount Carmel/Erin Mills).. Jordan brings speed, intensity and has potential to be one of the best defenders in the WHAC. He has very good technical skills which would allow him to bring composure to our backline so we can possess the ball to build in to our attack. Jordan is the younger brother of former All American Golden Eagle, Patrick Wilson
