Derek Scott leads a group of eight student-athletes who have qualified for the NAIA Outdoor National Track & Field Championships in Fresno, CA. The Championships will begin on May 25th. Scott could potentially compete in five different events (4 x 800, 800 meters, 1500 meters, 3000 meter steeplechase, 5,000 meters) The other seven athletes and their events are listed below.

After paying his dues as a high jumper through high school and college, senior, Andy Hayton joined the seven-foot club on his way to winning the competition at the Gina Relays.

Except for and brief torrential thunderstorm and lightening delay, it was a great day for middle distance running at the Eastern Michigan University Twilight Invitational. Seven Cornerstone runners had personal bests.

In an effort to find good early season competition, Derek Scott entered the prestigious Mt. Sac Relays.
Running in the second heat of the University/Open division, the 2004 NAIA runner up in the 3,000 meter Steeplechase found good competition elusive. Scotts won his heat by nearly five seconds, breaking his own school record in 9:01.67. His time was also better then anyone in the first heat, giving him the University/Open division title.

As a freshman, Andrew Hayton competed as a Ferris State University Bulldog. Now in his senior season, he returned for the last time to Top Taggart Track a four-time All-American as a Golden Eagle.
On a sunny but cold day, Hayton cleared 6’ 6” putting him in second to Joe Mielke of FSU. Andrew also tied for sixth in the long jump, going 21’ 11.75”.

Two meets in to his senior season, Troy Eddy is determined to finish his collegiate career in memorable fashion. In the early afternoon he ran 4:14.80 in the mile semi-finals, coasting to the finish in third place and advancing to Saturday’s final. After a week of two-a-day practices the Cornerstone Men’s Track & Field team was noticeably tired. That didn’t keep the team from finishing in the top three in seven events at the University of Chicago Indoor Opener.
