Samantha Flietstra

 

Samantha Flietstra signed a letter of intent to play for the Cornerstone Women's basketball team for the upcoming 08-09 season.  The 5-10 senior from Grand Rapids Christian was a two year starter who helped lead her team to two conference championships.  Her senior year she was named All City and to the Advance All Area second team.  She averaged 9 points and 6 rebounds and led the team in steals (2 per game), free-throw percentage (73%) and field goal percentage (55%). 

"We are thrilled to have Sam join our team," says Coach Fles.  "She will give us depth at the post position.  Not only is she a great athlete but she excells in the classroom as well."

 

Robyn and Melissa Veltkamp

Robyn and Melissa Veltkamp signed letters of intents to play for the Cornerstone Women's basketball team for the upcoming 08-09 season. The 5-8 seniors from Hudsonville formed one of the best duos in West Michigan. They led their team to back to back OK Red titles, tying Grand Haven for this year's championship. Robyn averaged 19 points, 4.2 assists, 4.4 rebounds, three steals and shot 44 percent from the floor. She made the O-K Red all-conference team as a junior and senior and was special mention on the Associated Press Class A all-state team. In addition, she was named to the Grand Rapids Press first team for thee All-Area Dream Team.

Melissa averaged 15 points, three assists, four rebounds, three steals and shot 44 percent from the floor. She was named to the O-K Red all conference team as well Honorable Menition all-state and second team Grand Rapids Press All-Area Dream team.

"Signing the twins is huge for our program," states Coach Fles. "The will make an immediate impact. They have put in countless hours on the basketball court and have a huge basketball IQ. It is going to be great having sisters on the team. They play so well together and just have a 6th sense as to where the other one is on the floor."
