
Alexa Hensler of Waterford Kettering High School has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Cornerstone University beginning the 2009-2010 season. Hensler a 5-9 gd/fwd is a two year starter for the varisty team and three year varsity player. Hensler is averaging 9.7ppg, 4.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. Her team was district champions in 2008. She is a four-year scholar athlete award winner and has been on the National Honor Society for two years. Hensler carries a 3.9 GPA and received the U.S history and Chemistry student of the year award and the Madame Curie award in Physics. In addition to her excellence on the court and in the classroom Alexa has been involved in cross-cultural ministry taking mission trips to Jamaica, Dominican Republic and New Orleans.
"Waterford Kettering is in a very competitive conference and Alexa has shown a lot of leadership as a starter for her team. She is a taller guard who can drive and shoot off the dribble. We are very excited to have someone with Alexa's character and competiveness on our team," states Coach Fles.

Kathy De Young of Otsego High School has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Cornerstone University beginning the 2009-2010 season. De Young is a 5-6 senior who averaging 15 ppg, 4 steals per game, and shooting 80 percent from the free-throw line. She is ranked as one of the top 100 players in Michigan in 2009. Her junior year at Otsego she averaged 6 assists per game and 6ppg. In addition De Young was named All-State Honorable Mention Detroit Free Press (2006), All County and First Team All-SAC.
De Young is a three sport athlete, honor roll member and scholar athlete. She was All District in softball (2008) and all league in swimming in 2007.
"Kathy is a great addition to the team. What stood out most when I saw her was her competitive drive and her tenacious defense. She is a really hard worker who strives for perfection. She is a person of high character and who will fit in perfectly with our team," states Coach Fles.

Kayleigh Hammond of Zeeland West has signed a letter intent to play basketball at Cornerstone University beginning the 2009-2010 season. Hammond is a 5-11 senior who averaged 7.3ppg, 8.5 rpg and 2.6 blocks per game as a junior. She was named All-Conference honorable mention, Holland Sentinel All-Area 2nd team and Advance All Area honorable mention. Shooting 55% from the floor she was second on the team in scoring and led the team in rebounds and blocks. In addition, Hammond holds the school record for blocks in a season. She was also a member of the Champions of Character All-Star team. Kayleigh is a National Honor Society Member, maintains a 3.8 G.P.A and is ranked in the top 20 in her class of 197.
"We are thrilled that Kayleigh chose Cornerstone," smiles Coach Fles. "It's great to have a player like Kayleigh to build our recruiting base around. She has a great personality and fits in very well with our team. She is a hard worker and I think she has only scratched the surface in what she is capable of doing on the court."
Katie Allers

Katie Allers of Coopersville High School has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Cornerstone University beginning in 2009-2010. Allers was a two year starter; all conference as a senior; averaged 7ppg and 6rpg senior year; MVP senior year; named all-area rebounder and All-Area honorable mention junior year; cross country MVP as a junior and senior; track MVP senior year; won conference and regional’s in the 400m dash as a senior; earned the senior athletic award and senior scholar athlete award; national honor society two years and graduated top ten percent of class with a 3.76 G.P.A.
"We are happy to Katie and the Allers family join the our team. Katie is willing to contribute in any way she can and has a strong desire to work hard to improve," states head coach Carla Fles.
