WOMEN'S SOCCER
The Cornerstone Golden Eagles Women's Soccer team fell to the Davenport Panthers Wednesday evening losing 0-3. "The first twenty minutes of the game, we were playing good soccer," said Coach Randy Strawser. The Golden Eagles gusto was evident as they stepped out onto the field. However, the Golden Eagles quality of play changed and the Golden Eagles entered halftime with a score of 0-1, the first goal taking place 24 minutes into the half. On the sidelines, the Eagles cheered their teammates on to the end. Coach Dan McCallister said, "we kept on fighting to the end. That is something to be proud of." The Golden Eagles were outshot 10-7 by the Panthers. During the second half, the Golden Eagle's gave up two more goals. Despite the score, the roar coming from the sidelines remained constant, as teammates of the Golden Eagles rooted each other on. After the game, the Golden Eagles exhibited good sportsmanship by joining hands with their opponent in a word of prayer. The Golden Eagles gifted the Panthers with a keychain that showcased two scriptures. Currently, the Panthers show a leading record in the WHAC league.
