Cornerstone Women's Soccer finished the season with a record of 14-5-2 after their loss to Indiana Wesleyan in the NAIA Region VIII Semifinals. The Women's Soccer Team won their first ever WHAC Tournament Championship under the lights at Brighton High School with a win over #1 seed Madonna. The Crusaders scored just 45 seconds into the game. Senior Melissa Strohmaier has been named WHAC Co-Player of the Year along with Kelly Tubbs from Siena Heights. Strohmaier has posted her second 23 goal season in a row for the Golden Eagles while leading the Golden Eagles to their best season since the inception of the program in 1997. Strohmaier has scored 46 goals over her two year career at Cornerstone which places her second for career scoring. Senior Forward Melissa Strohmaier was named WHAC Player of the Week for the second time this season. Strohmaier scored two goals and had one assist in a 6-0 win vs. Concordia and added two goals in the Golden Eagles 6-1 win over Indiana Tech. Melissa also passed Jessica Berryman (98-00) to become the second leading scorer in the history of the program with 43 total goals at Cornerstone.
The Golden Eagles came in to today's homecoming game having to overcome the loss of one of their star players in Lena Baldwin, but the team came together for a tough 2-0 victory over 1st place Siena Heights. The defense led the way for the home team as Siena oushot CU 26-4, but were unable to find the back of the net.
