Golden Eagles Eliminate Panthers

Cornerstone scored four runs in the 2nd inning and two runs in the 3rd inning and went on to defeat Davenport 6-5 in an elimination game today.  Dinah Gruppen started off the scoring with an RBI double in the 2nd.  Kayla Hamilton followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0.  The Golden Eagles scored two unearned runs after that to make it 4-0.  Cornerstone made it 6-0 on a Meghan Powell double in the 3rd inning.  Davenport rallied with five runs in the 4th and 5th innings but that would be all they would get on the day.  Rachel Gruppen and Kaycee Kuiper combined for the seven hitter as the Golden Eagles advanced to play Aquinas in another elimination game on Monday at 10:00 a.m.
