The softball season came to an end today as the Golden Eagles lost their second game at the WHAC Tournament. Aquinas defeated Cornerstone 11-9 in eight innings. Aquinas took a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning but the Golden Eagles rallied with one run in the 1st and two runs in the 2nd inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Golden Eagles went up 9-8 in the 5th on a couple of singles and a Saints throwing error. The Saints tied the game in the top of the 7th and took an 11-9 lead in the 8th. Emily Brown and Melanie Creager hit back to back singles to start the 8th inning but both would end up stranded on second and third base as Aquinas recorded the final out. The Golden Eagles outhit the Saints 14-11 but also made 5 errors in the game. Six Golden Eagles (Mandee Michielsen, Emily Brown, Melani Creager, Dinah Gruppen, and Kayla Hamilton) had at least two hits in the game. Cornerstone finishes the season with an overall record of 18-34 but they did play much better toward the end of the season winning 12 of their last 22 games.
