Heidi Warmelink, formally committed to attend Cornerstone University beginning in the fall of 2010. She made this official by signing her letter of intent on June 11, 2008. Cornerstone Head Coach Jim Farrell is excited to welcome Heidi onto the team not only because of her softball abilities, leadership, and priorities, but most importantly how her desire to deepen her relationship with Jesus Christ is demonstrated in her life.
The current Wayland-Union Junior has put together an impressive career in her two years. She broke seven school records her freshman year including pitching appearances (45), wins (40), innings pitched (260), strike outs (272), shutouts (20) no-hitters (7), and assists (356). When she is not pitching, she is playing shortstop. She is an offensive weapon as well with a batting average above .400 both years and an on-base percentage above .550 both years.
Warmelink was chosen as a team captain her sophomore year. Other honors she has received are Team Rookie of the Year (2007), All Conference (2007, 2008), All District (2007, 2008), All County (2007, 2008), All Region (2007, 2008), All State (2007), and Team MVP (2008).
This past summer, Heidi played for the Grand Rapids’ Blaze 16U team which had great success, including a 3rd place finish at Compuware and 2nd at NSA “A” States. Heidi rotated each game between pitching and shortstop for this team.
In talking about the addition of Warmelink to the team, Farrell said, “We are thrilled to have a player of Heidi’s caliber come into our program and are very excited about her contribution to us both on and off the field as well as the impact that she will have on our campus.”

Tahni Bruno has signed her letter of intent to join Cornerstone University’s softball program in the fall of 2009. She graduates from Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley, California this coming spring and is currently earning a 3.9. She plays 2nd base and outfield and will be able to contribute immediately because of her great experience.
Bruno has been playing for the California Thunder Gold 18U since 2007. As a member of the Sudden Impact 16U, she was part of the team that came in 13th place (out of 90) in the Western Nationals and took 1st place as an AFA National Qualifier. From 2005-2006, she played for the California Pirettes 14U and they took 19th place (out of 63) in the Triple Crown World Series (2006) and also attended the USSSA World Series (2005).
Bruno has been on her Varsity team since her sophomore year and in 2007, her team was league champions and made it to the Division II Semi-Finals. As a player, she was named to the 2nd team All-League and received the Scholar Athlete 4.0 Coach’s Award.
Cornerstone Head Coach Jim Farrell remarks, “We are excited for Tahni to enter our program! As a player, competing at the Gold level in Southern California, she brings to us a wealth of experience and ability having faced many of the best pre-college pitchers in the country. She also will make an impact with her great personality, sense of humor, and love for God in our program and on our campus.”

Madison Bucilla has committed to attend Cornerstone University beginning in the fall of 2009. Madi is a pitcher and utility player from Laguna Niguel, CA. The current Dana Hills senior will bring not only strong pitching to the CU staff, but also the ability to provide offensive punch as well. She is currently a pitcher with the Case Batbusters 18 Gold team under Bob Wenk’s direction. Her week in and week out competing against many of the best pre-college softball players in the country have prepared her to step in and contribute quickly in the CU program.
Coach Jim Farrell comments, “All of her awards and accolades for softball are great and well deserved, but Madi will bring far more than that to our program. She is a tremendous student, coming into college with a 3.9 GPA. However, the thing that has impressed me most is her desire and commitment to follow after God and bring Him glory with all parts of her life. She is a leader and the type of young lady that will make a tremendous impact on our team and on our campus.”

Along with her amazing athletic ability, her high school coaches also speak very highly of the way she leads with heart and passion. She has made a great impact on her teammates at the high school level and will now bring that experience to CU.
Coach Farrell commented about Stephanie, “She is a tremendous athlete, successful not only in softball, but also in basketball, golf, and anything else she has touched. That is made possible by a great work ethic and a constant desire to be the best. We are so excited to have Stephanie Milanowski join our program. I believe she will be a great contributor to our program both on and off the field.”

Elayna Citko has signed her letter of intent to attend and play softball at Cornerstone University beginning in the fall of 2009. Elayna comes to us from the Chicago, IL area and will graduate from Oak Park River Forest High School. She is a solid outfielder with excellent foot speed and a strong arm. She also is a solid leadoff hitter with the ability to hit, slap, and drag from the left side of the plate. She has gained valuable experience playing travel softball with the Chicago Outburst organization. Her head coach, Eileen Macey, has been very instrumental in helping Elayna take her game to a high level that has prepared her to take the next step into college softball.
Coach Jim Farrell says of Elayna, “She will bring a much needed presence on the left side of the plate that we have been without during the 09 season. She also will help beef up our outfield play, and is very capable on the bases as a runner. Overall, we are very excited that Elayna has chosen to get her education and play softball at Cornerstone University.
