Melissa Sawicki
Yale, MI Capac HS
Melissa is pictured with her parents (Tim and Angie Sawicki).
Melissa comes to Cornerstone after an outstanding running career at Capac HS where she excelled in Cross Country and distance events while on the track.
2007 served as a breakout season for Sawicki in cross country where she was crowned regional champion. The following weekend she competed in the MHSAA Division 3 State Championships where she recorded a personal record time of 19:11.6 which earned her 23rd place and an All State finish.
Melissa will enroll at Cornerstone in the fall and has plans to study Theatre. Her parents are Tim and Angie Sawicki.
Lauren Pierce
Lauren is pictured with Coach Rod Wortley.
Lauren comes to Cornerstone after being standout trackster from Vermontville Maple Valley HS. In 2008, Lauren was a four event winner at her Regional Meet, and proceeded to compete at the MHSAA Division 3 State meet in each of the four events (4x100, 4x200, 200m, LJ). Lauren achieved All-State accolades in both of the relays to cap her brilliant prep career which includes PR’s of 26.7 in the 200m and 17’1 in the long jump. Lauren graduates as salutatorian of her class with a 3.9+ GPA. She plans to study Business while at CU.
