WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Cornerstone closed out the St. Francis Ill. Tournament with two wins to go 3-1 for the weekend. The Golden Eagles had to come from behind to beat Illinios Tech losing the first set 27-25. They won the next two sets 25-20, 25-23 dropped the fouth set 19-25 to force a fifth set. CU had 9 kills and hit .364 percent to win 15-7. Alicia TerHaar continues to lead the attack finishing with a team high 15 kills (15-38=.342%). Becky Albrecht and Katie McKee finished with double figure kills finishing with 14 and 12 respectively. Kayla Wilson had a team high 14 digs and Marcie Blacquiere tallied 48 assists.
CU won the last match of the tournament beating St. Xavier 3-1. The Golden Eagles dropped the first set 23-25. They rebounded and won the next three 25-19, 25-17, 25-23. Becky Albrecht led the team with 16 kills (16-39=.256%). Holly Cousins finished with 12 kills and TerHaar had 10 kills for the match. Blacquiere finished with 39 assists while Cousins and Albrecht had a team high 12 digs. Katie McKee finished with a team high 4 blocks. CU improves to 19-15 overall and have just 5 more matches remaining in the WHAC season before the WHAC tournament. Cornerstone travels to UM-Dearborn on Tuesday, October 20th and then Madonna on Thursday, October 22 this week.
