After the conclusion of the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship this past weekend, the All-American teams were announced and Cornerstone placed two on the Honorable Mention Team. Julie Brusie, a Junior Libero from North Branch, MI and Holly Punches, a Senior Setter from Muskegon, MI were both honored by the coaches around the country.

After the conclusion of the Region VIII Tourney at Madonna University, four members of the Cornerstone Women's Volleyball Team were honored by the Region. Selected to the first team were seniors Allison Park and Holly Punches and Junior Julie Bruise. For the second year in a row, Brusie was also named as the Region VIII Libero of the Year. Emily Hollemans was the 4th player honored for CU as she was named to the 2nd Team after an outstanding season.

After a successful regular season and another 2nd-place finish in the WHAC Tourney, the women's volleyball team recieved numerous honors for All-Conference Awards. Julie Brusie led the way for the 1st team as she was also named WHAC Libero-of-the-Year for the 2nd consecutive year. Holly Punches, Allison Park and Emily Hollemans were also named to the 1st Team. Shari Van Engen was the lone Eagle on the second team, but Freshman Christy Beam was named to the All-Freshman Team.

The women's volleyball season is winding down, but the players on the team don't want it to end just quite yet. Tonight they begin the post season as they open up the WHAC Tourney with a semifinal matchup with U-M Dearborn. CU enters the game as the #2 seed and the Wolves are the #3 seed. In the second semifinal, Madonna, the #1 seed will play #4 Indiana Tech. The CU Women's Volleyball team is looking at gaining momentum as they wind down the season.Overcoming a pumped up Aquinas team and a sluggish start, the Golden Eagles were able to come away with a 3-0 (30-26, 30-26, 30-14) victory. The win takes CU to 31-9 on the season and 9-2 in WHAC play. They can wrap up second place with a victory over U-M Dearborn tommorrow night in Dearborn. Junior Libero Julie Brusie was named WHAC Libero of the Week for the fifth time this season. Brusie tallied 48 Digsin two wins for the Golden Eagles this past week. Brusie has a team high 27 Digs against Siena Heights.

Cornerstone University junior Julie Brusie is the WHAC volleyball Libero-of-the-Week for September 26, 2005. The North Branch, Michigan native tallied 161 digs in five matches for No. 21 Cornerstone as the Golden Eagles went 3-2 on the week. Brusie posted a weekly high 56 digs in a five set win over Trinity International. Bruse also was named the Region VIII Libero of the Week which gives her a chance at earning National Libero of the Week as well.

The Jenison, Michigan native recorded 61 kills and 97 digs along with five aces and 14 blocks in five matches for the Golden Eagles. On the week, Park helped lead Cornerstone to a 5-0 record while averaging 3.8 kilss and 6.6 digs per game.

After cruising to two wins on Friday, the Golden Eagles didn't let up on Illinois Tech in the morning match. CU downed Tech by scores of 30-23, 30-18 and 30-24. Cornerstone University Senior Allison Park is the WHAC Volleyball Player of the Week for August 29, 2005. The Jenison, MI native helped lead the #16 ranked Golden Eagles to an upset of #1 ranked California Baptist in the Fresno Pacific Tournament, which was the first time in school history CU has defeated a #1 ranked team.
On the week, park helped CU to a 2-3 record while playing 4 top-25 teams. She tallied 63 kills, 20 assists and 119 digs in the five matches.
