2009 Recruits

Larissa Deshetsky

Larissa is pictured with her siblings (Micaela, Levi, & Ethan) and her parents (Kelly & Willie Deshetsky).

Larissa Deshetsky, from North Branch High School, has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Cornerstone University in the fall of 2009. Larissa is a 5’9 defensive specialist, coming from a very successful high school program. She was part of the 2008 Class B team who were District Champions, Regional Champions and State Semi-finalists. This team was ranked #1 in the state and 19th nationally. Outside of volleyball, Larissa is actively involved in her church and youth group. She also participated in SADD, 4-H, Pro-Life Club, National Honor Society, Varsity Girl Club and plays Varsity basketball. Larissa is planning on majoring in Business.

 
 

Sarah Miller


Sarah Miller has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Cornerstone University in the fall of 2009. Sarah is a transfer student from Oakland Community College where she played volleyball for two years. In this program Sarah received the Scholar Athlete Award both years. Sarah was a three year varsity player at her high school, Waterford Kettering. In Sarah’s sophomore year the team went to the state tournament for the first time in her school’s history. Sarah was a Scholar Athlete for her entire high school career. She was also named the “Female Athlete of the Year” as a senior and was a nominee for the Wendy’s Heisman Award.


 

Kate Zwier


Kate Zwier, a middle hitter from Tri-Unity Christian High School, has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Cornerstone University in the fall of 2009. As a sophomore, Kate helped her team to a District and Regional Championship and a chance to play in the MHSAA State Finals. Kate was named to the All-Conference and All-Area team for two years. Her senior year she received All-Region and All-State Honorable Mention. At Tri-Unity, Kate holds the record for most blocks in a season and average blocks per game. Kate has been an honor roll student throughout high school, was a member of National Honor Society for two years, participated in Homecoming committee and was named Homecoming Queen of her high school.

 

 

Megan April

Megan is pictured with her parents (David & Karen April).

 Megan April has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Cornerstone University in the fall of 2009. Megan is a 5’9” outside hitter from Mount Zion Christian School in Manchester, New Hampshire. She was named the Volleyball MVP of her high school team and was selected for the Division I All-State Girl’s Volleyball Team two years in a row. As a freshman, Megan was one of six athletes to receive the Club Z National Achievement Award. She was also the captain of the 18 Gold Power League Junior Olympics team for two years. Megan is looking forward to playing volleyball at Cornerstone University and seeing what God has in store for her here.

 

 

Becky Albrecht

 

Becky Albrecht, a 5’10” outside hitter, has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Cornerstone University in the fall 2009. Becky played volleyball for Caro High School where she was voted MVP by her teammates for three years. She was also recognized as an All-Conference and All-Region player. Other awards that Becky received include the Michigan All-Thumb Area Dream Team, All-Advertiser Dream Team, Tuscola Advertiser Athlete of the week, and various All-Tournament Teams. Besides her successful high school career in volleyball, Becky did well in basketball and track. Becky is looking forward to attending Cornerstone to develop her faith and build God-centered relationships.
