Emergency Procedures
- SEVERE WEATHER:

- If possible, carry your ID card and/or billfold with you in a secure clothing pocket, and also a carry any neccessary medications, portable radio, flashlight, and/or cell phone if you have IMMEDIATE access to one or all of these items
- Use the radio, television, and/or internet to monitor weather broadcasts
- If several individuals in your group have radios or other communications items, use only one radio or item at a time to preserve the other batteries for possible future use
- The same as above should apply to flashlights and cell phones to preserve battery power should the event be more than a brief period of time
- In the event of severe storms, immediately travel to the most protected and safest location you can find in the most immediate building you are in or near
- Generally, the lowest level and near a secure wall is best
- Under stairwells is also often a safe location, however these spaces are limited in capacity
- Always stay away from glass windows and doors, and areas that contain loose items
- If storm damage is imminent, huddle down and cover your head as best as possible
- If there is time to safely travel across campus before a storm strikes the most secure campus location is the lower level of the Bernice Hansen Center
- Campus Safety will attempt to unlock the BHC in the event it is needed for refuge. If for some reason the building is not unlocked call Campus Safety (0 (zero) from campus phone or (616) 949-5300 from all other phones

- OTHER EMERGENCIES:

- Generally, most of the procedures as stated in the above weather section apply
- Anyone with concerns regarding an emergency and/or hazardous situation around or on campus should listen to and monitor local radio and televison stations or check the Cornerstone website
- In the unlikely event that a real emergency or hazardous situation should be happening on or around campus CU switchboard and 9-1-1 lines will undoubtedly be busy
- CU has a variety of plans in effect for various other types of potential concerns
- Should some type of evacuation and/or consolidated assembly be necessary on campus, everyone will likely be directed the the Bernice Hansen Athletic Center
- Once at or in the BHC, you will be directed further by officials at the scene
- Should an off-site evacuation be necessary, you will be directed to a selected location by public safety officials and/or Cornerstone officials

- VEHICLE TOWING INFORMATION:

- The Cornerstone University campus is posted in accordance with all State of Michigan and/or local ordinances as it pretains to unauthorized vehicles parked on all campus property. This includes however is not limited to abandoned, unlicensed and/or unregistered, inoperable, and/or dismantled as well as parked and/or posted for sale, rent, and/or lease.
Vehicles as described in the above paragraph are subject to immediate impound and at the owner's/operrator's expense!
All vehicles impounded or towed from out campus are towed by Merl's Towing Service of 5510 Clay Ave. SW Wyoiming, Michigan 49548 - telephone (616) 538-1320.
