P G S Adjunct Instructor – Onground and Blended


 

SUMMARY

 

Facilitates classroom instruction as outlined in the faculty module handbook provided for each course.

Models and supports the values of the University in and out of the classroom.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

 

• Operates as facilitator and informational resource in the classroom. Focuses on the learning

objectives of the program and the course.

• Makes reasonable accommodation outside of class to answer student questions.

• Builds an intentional learning community in which students are encouraged to express their

ideas.

• Prepares for class and is familiar with the material from both the module and the text(s). Follows

the course materials and instructions provided for the faculty member and students using its

format and activities as guidelines for conducting the class.

• Returns all written assignments to students, with formative comments, generally by the next week

of class, as required by the University and/or syllabus.

• Prepares and makes Odyssey course template available to students at least one week prior to

the first class period.

• Prepares and posts a supplemental course syllabus on Odyssey course template before the first

night of class . Submits a copy (either paper or electronically) to the PGS office for permanent

academic record.

• Adheres to applicable academic and classroom policies as stated in the Faculty and Student

Handbooks.

• Assigns grades. Posts on Odyssey for each student and submits end-of-course documents within

one week of the last class session.

• Monitors the logistics of the classroom, i.e., room temperature, seating arrangement and reports

problems to PGS office.

• Completes four (4) Faculty Development Units each academic year of which attendance at a

minimum of two scheduled Faculty Development Workshops are required.

• Attends and participates on a Curriculum Review Committee, as requested.

• Completes the online New Faculty Orientation workshops.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

• Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and an active Christian commitment

A theology that supports the values and mission of the university as evidenced by an ability to affirm and sign the university’s doctrinal statement “The Cornerstone Confession”

• Master degree, doctorate preferred, from an accredited institution related to the subject and

earned in a minimum of two years prior to application

• Experience teaching adults in higher education

• Proven professional experience and expertise in his/her major field for a minimum of five years

• Excellent communication and listening skills

• Accessibility to E-Mail and the Internet

• Excellent knowledge and skills using classroom technology and software – PowerPoint and

Blackboard, WebCT, Angel, Moodle or similar classroom management software
