Setting up the Wireless Connection

To setup WebDisciples, you will need to first set up the wireless connection.  

Each Operating System handles this differently.

Instructions for Windows XP SP2
To set up a new connection in Microsoft Windows XP, Service Pack 2, go to the Wireless Network Connection Properties page.  You can get there by right clicking on "My Network Places" and choosing Properties.  Then right click on your wireless adapter and choose Properties.  

Once at the Wireless Network Connection Properties page, click on the "Wireless Networks" tab.



Click on the Add button.  That will bring you to this screen:



Fill in the Network Name (SSID) box with "WebDisciples", change the Network Authentication option to "Open" and the Data encryption option to "Disabled", so that it looks exactly like the screen shot above.  When this is completed, click on the OK button.  Then, click on the next OK button.

Within a minute or two after initially creating the WebDisciples preferred network, your computer will automatically connect to that network.  You should not have to repeat this step.

Instructions for Windows Vista
To set up a new connection for Microsoft Windows Vista, go to the Network and Sharing Center.  To get there, click start and in the search box at the bottom of the start menu type
Network and Sharing Center as show in the picture below, and click on the Network and Sharing Center entry listed under Programs in the search result.



In the network and sharing center, click on Set Up A Connection Or Network.  This will open another window where it will ask you to choose a connection option.  Select Manually Connect To A Wireless Network, and then click the Next button.  This will being you to a form asking you for information about the connection you wish to set up.  The form should look like the following screen.  



On this screen fill out the following information so that it looks like the screen above.

1. Under Network Name, enter WebDisciples
2. Under Security Type, select No Authentication(Open)
3. Encryption Type will automatically select None
4. Check both the Start this connection automatically and Connect even if the network is not broadcasting checkboxes

After you have entered the information click the Next button.  On the next screen click the Close button and within a minute or two, you should be connected to the WebDisciples network.  You should not have to repeat this step.
