WebDisciples Acceptable Use Policy

By accessing WebDisciples, you are agreeing with the DiscipleNet Acceptable Use Policy and the WebDisciples Acceptable Use Policy.

WebDisciples is a wireless network that is provided to Cornerstone University community members who are not issued a laptop by the University.  Those community members, who are issued a laptop will continue to use the DiscipleNet wireless Network and may not attach additional computers to the Cornerstone University network via the WebDisciples wireless Network.  Per the DiscipleNet Acceptable Use Policy, exceptions to this policy require the approval of the Director of Network Operations.

By using the WebDisciples wireless network, you are personally and solely responsible for the appropriate maintenance of your wireless computing device.  Cornerstone University is not responsible for maintaining any computing device that connects to WebDisciples.  Cornerstone University will assist you in ensuring that your user account is enabled to access WebDisciples, to help you in understanding the instructions for accessing WebDisciples, and answering any questions you may have about policy.

Cornerstone University uses software to monitor external website traffic.  Cornerstone University does not allow its members to access pornographic or gambling web sites.  Attempts to access these sites are monitored.  Disciplinary action may be taken based upon this monitoring.

Cornerstone University uses hardware and software to monitor network traffic.  If your computing device is generating network traffic that is interfering with the safe and appropriate functioning of the network, your computing device may be banned from the network, either automatically by rule or by determination of an authorized Cornerstone University staff member.  The most likely reason for banning is a virus infected computing device.  If you are banned, you will still see WebDisciples network signal, but you will be unable to view web pages, connect to instant messaging programs, or perform any other functions on the network.

If your computing device is infected with a virus and you are banned, it is your responsibility to remove the virus from your computing device.  Once the virus has been removed from your system, it is your responsibility to contact Technology Support at 616-222-1510, or campus extension 1510, or e-mail technology_support@cornerstone.edu.  When you contact them, you will need to supply them with your computing device’s MAC address for your wireless network card.  Contacting Technology Support is the only way to remove your computing device from the banned list.  Cornerstone University will act as quickly as staffing allows us to act upon your request to remove your computing device from the banned list.

It is against the WebDisciples Acceptable Use Policy to try to intercept or receive any information that was not explicitly intended for you, or to utilize and/or exploit any information that you inadvertently receive.  This includes emails, downloads, or any other kind of transmission.

Cornerstone University is not responsible for any data passing through the wireless connection.  We can not guarantee data will not be lost, damaged, or intercepted in transit including emails, downloads, or any other kind of transmission.  We are not liable for the loss, damage or interception of these transmissions.  Cornerstone University is not liable for any loss or damage to the user’s equipment.

Users are forbidden to use this wireless network for copyright infringement of any kind.

Cornerstone University reserves the right to ban a user for any violation of policy, inappropriate network activity, or for the health of the network.
