MAT 096: Introduction to the language of algebra.
Topics include:
Emphasis is placed on the reading and writing of mathematics. The Learning Center uses modeling to help students solve real world applications. The Learning Center requires all students to demonstrate a mastery of concepts and skills before credit can be earned. A TI-83 calculator may be used when students are solving problems involving polynomials, linear systems, factoring, and functions. A graphing calculator (TI-83) is the recommended calculator to be used.
CLC 100: Learning Strategies
Topics Include:
This course is designed to be an introduction to university learning strategies and to provide each student with an opportunity to assess learning styles, personality traits, priorities, values, and cognitive skills. Each student will tailor the course to meet his or her academic improvement needs, with faculty and mentor assistance. The course will feature a combination of lectures, workshops, videos, guest speakers, personal assessment inventories, and writing skill development exercises. A holistic balance of mind, body, and spirit is emphasized throughout the course.
ENG 099: Basic Writing
This is an individually paced course in the basic techniques for effective written communication as preparation for ENG 113 Freshman Rhetoric.
