The C. John Miller Business Leadership Award was established June 8, 2000 by the Board of Trustees of Cornerstone University. It is named in honor of C. John Miller, Chairman of Miller Energies, Inc. of Kalamazoo, Michigan and the award's first recipient.
The C. John Miller Business Leadership Award is given annually to a business person who exemplifies Cornerstone University's Christian values through significant achievement in the field of business. The Award recognizes business savvy, respect for free enterprise and fair play, leadership prowess, and a well-developed sense of appreciation for the employees whose caliber and labors have contributed to the Award recipient's success.
Recipients of this award have demonstrated by their personal lifestyle and professional accomplishments that it is possible to become very successful in business while maintaining the highest ethical standards of honesty, integrity, and compassion. They are models of creative ambition, exemplary character, competence, and an outstanding work ethic. C. John Miller Business Leadership Awardees know how to plan and they know how to pray. They know that success is a product of great ideas plus hard work plus time and the blessing of God. C. John Miller Business Leadership Award recipients are leaders not only in the marketplace but in society. They are as much an example of how one should live successfully as they are how to achieve success.
The C. John Miller Business Leadership Award symbolizes the values, goals, and learning experience of the faculty and students of Cornerstone University's School of Professional Studies. In recognition of this, the C. John Miller Business Leadership Award, represented by an engraved Golden Eagle sculpture and an accompanying bronze plaque listing the names of each year's recipients, will be permanently housed in the university's Business Department offices in Bolthouse Hall as a leadership example in perpetuity to future students and all who visit this campus. May each business student who traverses this campus aspire to emulate the values and the achievements represented in the C. John Miller Business Leadership Award and the life of its namesake, C. John Miller.
