Your Story
Donna and I have learned to listen to the voice of God's Spirit through God's word and God's people. We have experienced the joy of numerous ministries (four churches, GRTS and Converge Leadership) over the last 40 years of marriage and ministry. God has spoken. He has led. We have followed. God's call on both our lives has been clear and consistent. Grand Rapids Baptist College gave us a rich theological and biblical foundation. We learned the basics. Each theological foundation has served us lifelong and provided the mooring needed during ministry storms. We were both enriched through the various ministry opportunities to serve in local churches and give of ourselves to ministry. While it was required, it was a joy.
All of our lifetime friends served Jesus Christ alongside of us, and 40 years later, five of us are serving together on the same staff. That is amazing. That is God. We have learned that lifelong learning, serving and leading is not just for ministry, but for life as well. The Bible guides our ministry, indeed, but it guides our every day lives. The power of the gospel and prayer are essential to who we are and what we do. This life and ministry is not about us. It is all about Jesus and loving the people for whom Jesus gave his life.
Our greatest joy this year included seeing 100 churches planted through Converge. People are coming to Christ. Over 160 adult learners were trained through an "in church" masters degree program. People are falling more in love with Jesus. In 25 countries, we are witnessing amazing movements of new churches and church renewal. People are ignited. Every day we ask, "God what is next?" The answers are amazing and transforming. What a joy we share. What a wonderful life we have lived. We can't wait for tomorrow. Thank you God.
