Shawn Newhouse graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from Taylor University in 1990. In 2006, she earned her Master of Business Administration degree from Taylor, and is currently working toward a Doctor of Business Administration in Marketing from Anderson University. As a full-time professor, Newhouse teaches Principles of Marketing, Marketing Problems/Strategies, Consumer Behavior, Sales Management, International Business, Cross-Cultural Business, and International Marketing courses. She has implemented meaningful course projects in coordination with local nonprofit organizations, is a member of a small faculty team that developed and led Cornerstone University’s first conference on “Faith, Sustainability, and Business,” and has initiated a pilot program for Cornerstone University students to secure internships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Newhouse has been published in both the Christian Business Academy Review and The Courant of CELT. She has been awarded the Best Practices in Teaching-Marketing Award from the Christian Business Faculty Association, the Wall Street Journal Award, and a Student Leader of the Year award from Taylor University.
Outside of work, Newhouse enjoys reading, family games, traveling and cross-cultural ministry. In 1986 she was named Miss United States Coast Guard. Newhouse is the co-founder of the local Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) program, served as a team leader for Lakeshore Relay for Life, and has provided nine years of reading support for Grand Haven Area Public Schools. Newhouse has a passion for international missions, as she has developed a cross-culture program for Watermark Church and has done missions work in Bosnia, Croatia, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
