Where were you born?
I was born in Grand Rapids and yet I grew up in a small town just south of GR called Allegan.
What are your hobbies?
- shopping
- reading
- spending time with family
- watching my niece
- traveling to warm places
What’s your favorite hang-out spot in GR?
Any coffee shop. I also love to spend time at the beach and my new favorite restaurant is the Cherie Inn in Eastown.
What’s your favorite type of music?
country music, Matthew West, Rascal Flatts
What’s your favorite part about CU?
I love the emphasis CU puts on leadership. Jesus is the best example of a leader and CU wants to train not only students, but staff and faculty, to use the gifts, talents and abilities that we have in different leadership opportunities around campus.
Why did you choose to work in admissions?
I really enjoy the staff and the people I work with. I loved my Christian college experience – it gave me opportunities I wouldn’t have had otherwise – and was excited to be able to encourage people to experience this same kind of thing.
What one piece of advice would you give to a new student?
Get involved in opportunities that stretch you and things that may or may not be out of your comfort zone. Allow God to form you through different experiences. Meet new people and have lifelong learning opportunities, but embrace the Christian college experience. The opportunities to get involved are endless here, so that makes CU great, too.
