Where were you born?
Grand Rapids, Michigan

Why did you choose to attend CU?
Believe it or not, CU was the only college I considered attending my Senior year. I grew up listening to the CU radio stations and always appreciated the aesthetics of the campus when I drove by on my way to GR (Blue is my favorite color... I just loved the roofs). However, what truly sealed the deal for me was meeting with my Admissions Counselor (Caitlin Brown) and visiting the CU campus. The students, faculty & staff were more than welcoming, and the friendly, fun, Christ-centered environment was one that I had always hoped to be a part of.

Who was your favorite professor and why?
I had many amazing professors while attending CU, but my favorite has to be Scott Morter. Professor Morter willingly took me in my freshman year as my academic advisor and continually provided the guidance and encouragement I needed. His contagious smile, joyful spirit and down-to-earth attitude made classes engaging and insightful. It was truly a blessing to be taught and mentored by a professor who had academic and real-world experience, and also genuinely cared for me and my goals as an individual.

What are your hobbies?
-Spending time with my new husband, Joseph Boston (CU ‘09)
-Playing sports
-Quality time with friends and family
-Being outdoors

What’s your favorite hang-out spot in GR?
Rosa Parks Circle during the winter months. I love ice skating with friends & family under the sparkling night lights!

What’s your favorite type of music?
I enjoy a broad range of music genres. Primarily Contemporary Christian (like Jimmy Needham & One Thousand Generations) as well as old time classics (like Nate King Cole, Frank Sinatra & Ella Fitzgerald.)

What’s your favorite part about CU?
My favorite part about CU is the community. The life-long friendships & relationships that developed from my time at Cornerstone are worth more than anything in the world.

Why did you choose to work in admissions?
It was actually a goal of mine to work in admissions when I first came to CU as a freshman student. I loved the interaction I had with my CU admissions counselor and the students workers while in high school and couldn’t imagine a more fulfilling job. After 3.5 years as a student at CU I am very excited to be able to meet that goal and encourage others to attend through my story. The people here are great and it’s a blessing to work with such joyous and encouraging individuals!

What one piece of advice would you give to a new student?
Get involved and challenge yourself to grow spiritually, academically & socially. Surround yourself by individuals who are different from you and that encourage, care for, and challenge you. Try your best to embrace all the opportunities to learn, and remember to keep God number one.
