Matt HallerIf I could do one thing the rest of my life and be paid for it I would take someone out for coffee and a good conversation every day. I am the Lead RA for VanOsdel Hall, which doesn’t make me less fun (I promise), and I can’t help but enjoy the simple things in life…things like McDonald’s Coke, a pair of GAP Jeans, or a movie night with the guys.
It has truly been an incredible weekend.
You know those days right before you are about to do something awesome? Those days that are too long to imagine, that seem like they will never end? That was this past Friday. After I finally got out of class my amazing girlfriend Caitlin had an incredible night planned for us. We went out to dinner, saw a movie, and after waling out of a horrible play and a literal fire starting in the engine of my car...we had a lot, a lot of laughs.
I came home yesterday and spent a day just hanging with my family. They are something else. My almost sister in law Cassey was here with my brother and Caitlin came home with me too. We went to Outback, had some cake, and came home and watched Saturday Night Live. I know that may not seem like the way a typical college guy would spend his 21st birthday but to me it was perfect.

Well, apparently I didn’t “save” the pictures from my phone for my last blog -; so I apologize for it taking so long to get pictures up there. Fortunately I had a meeting for my internship there this morning so I got some today!
Nothing new is really going on in my life really. Well, I mean nothing new to me. It’s the start of a new semester so that means plenty is going on in Van Osdel hall though. It is always interesting coming back to VO after Christmas break. I tell freshmen this all the time but you really grow up a lot over Christmas break, I still do and this is my third year! As unbelievable as that may seem it is very true and it is one of the reasons I love being an RA.
The thing is that all the guys in the hall know it. They know the lay of the land, they understand the rules and how hall life works, and they are finally comfortable living there and calling it home. The transfer students that are new take a few weeks but jump right in to the mix of things because the other guys are so used to everything. All I do is plan a few events and shake things up a bit and soon everyone is dumping water on me from the 3rd floor stairs. Hahaha! Seriously! With comfort comes the prank season and I really can’t ask for anything more!
As a preview, get ready for some inside looks into “Dancing with the Sections”, Cook/VO’s best tradition!
I don’t really have pictures for this so I took some of the winter weather. Really groundhog, you had to see your shadow?! Ugh…
9:00am this morning...yea, it was cold.

So - let's be real - we all know how I like a good cup of coffee and a nice place to hang out. My boss Darci introduced to the "The Java Lounge" last week and I am a changed man! Hahaha - but really, it's incredible here.
"The Java Lounge" is run by a woman named Katherine. She is awesome. She is a mother of two and has wanted to open a coffee shop forever and now she has the chance. Katherine runs the coffee shop like a Christian organization. She has open mic nights on Friday nights and doesn't hesitate to speak her faith. The decor is pretty awesome too. Deep read with dark brown wood and black accents make it pretty manly and definitely gives it a lounge-type feel. Seriously, I am trying to get this to be my friends' "Central Perk" because I love it that much (hope you caught the FRIENDS reference).
The only bummer is that I don't have my camera right now because I let a friend borrow it for class! I just took pictures with my phone and I am going to upload them as soon as I get back - I hope the quality is good!
So yea, come check out "The Java Lounge" if you are in town. It's on Knapp's Corners across from Buffalo Wild Wings...you'll probably see me there!
HEY!
Welcome back right?!? It has been an incredible five week break. My Christmastime was spent with family and friends so much so that it flew by! It was everything I needed and I am grateful for that break. At the same time I also am extremely excited to be back at Cornerstone because it is the first week of my LAST SEMESTER. I can't believe it. These three years have flown by. I am both excited and nervous as I begin to start this new phase in life.
Before I jump right into a new season of blogging about college life I wanted to share with you something incredible I had the opportunity to be a part of over break. If you remember back to one of my first videos, I had a friend getting married! Well, January 9th finally came around and it was a fast paced week filled with last minute details, planning, and trying to take care of the bridge and groom the best I could. Being a best man was nothing like I thought it would be. I had so many details and thoughts floating around in my head that entire week and seeing everything come together was pretty fantastic. Also, I never knew I could be that happy for someone else. It was an awesome time and I am so happy for Nate and Dawn Knox!
