Discipleship Groups

Discipleship groups are small gatherings of students who intentionally meet together for two main purposes:
• Building community – spend time with people whom you can hang out with and have fun, but who will also help bear your burdens and encourage you to live like Christ.
• Discipleship – becoming more like Jesus in the way you think, the words you say and the way you act. This is pursued in these groups through activities like studying the Bible, prayer, accountability, and service.
Groups are available at various times and locations throughout the week for residential and commuter students or a mix of both. In every section of each residence hall a group is available and led by the section’s Discipleship Coordinator (DC). Groups are also available across campus which cater to a specific topic of study or demographic of student.

Small Groups

Small groups are intentional gatherings of students who meet together weekly or bi-weekly for two main purposes:
Building community – spend time with people whom you can hang out with and have fun, but who will also help bear your burdens and encourage you to live like Christ.
Discipleship – becoming more like Jesus in the way you think, the words you say and the way you act. This is pursued in these groups through activities like studying the Bible, book discussion, prayer, accountability, and service.

Groups are available at various times and locations throughout the week for residential and commuter students or a mix of both. You can join a group at the beginning of each semester by contacting small group leaders directly.

Mentoring

Though the word “mentor” can conjure up all sorts of images, feelings, and opinions, most of us have had people in our lives who have helped us become the people we are today. Believing that we need fellow sojourners throughout each chapter of life, the goal of the Sojourners mentoring initiative is to partner any student who desires someone to join them on their college journey with just such a person. These faculty, staff, alum, or peer mentors will seek to provide a listening ear, a non-judgmental presence, a posture of prayer, and honesty and wisdom from their own perspective.
